Job Description

Job Title: Engineering Technician C

Location: Chantilly, VA (Onsite)

Experience Required: 2–5 Years

Work Schedule: 9/80 (Work 9 days in 14-day cycle; every other Friday off)

Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with CI Poly (Required)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technician C to support precision engineering and photonics-based projects. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience in assembly, testing, machining, or lab environments, who can work with high-precision components and follow detailed engineering instructions.

This position offers an opportunity to work with advanced photonic systems, with comprehensive on-the-job training provided for candidates from electronics, mechanical, or manufacturing backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute fabrication, assembly, integration, testing, and inspection processes based on engineering drawings and work instructions

  • Perform tasks such as optical fiber splicing, photonic circuit assembly, mechanical builds, soldering, and microscopy

  • Operate machining equipment (lathes, mills, CNC) for precision part fabrication

  • Integrate COTS optical equipment (power meters, laser sources, monitoring tools)

  • Assist with equipment calibration following vendor and custom procedures

  • Maintain and operate fabrication tools such as wire bonding, photomasking, and epoxy systems

  • Ensure preventive maintenance and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet cost, schedule, and quality goals

  • Interpret technical specifications, diagrams, and engineering documentation

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with 6+ years of relevant experience OR

  • Associate Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with CI Poly (Mandatory)

  • Hands-on experience in at least one of the following:

  • Engineering assembly or fabrication

  • Machining (CNC, lathe, mill)

  • Electronics or mechanical systems

  • Lab or manufacturing environments

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and follow detailed procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with photonics or optical systems (training will be provided)

  • Familiarity with DoD lab/workshop environments

  • Experience with precision assembly and testing

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
