Our client is offering an exciting opportunity for a Junior Instrumentation Technician to join their team in Edmonton, Alberta, CA . This apprenticeship program is designed to provide comprehensive training and hands-on experience in the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of industrial instrumentation and control systems. You will work under the guidance of experienced professionals, learning to ensure the accuracy and reliability of critical process equipment within the Oil & Gas sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the installation of instrumentation components such as transmitters, gauges, control valves, and sensors. Perform routine calibration and testing of instruments to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications. Conduct preventive maintenance on instrumentation systems to minimize downtime. Diagnose and troubleshoot instrument malfunctions, and perform necessary repairs. Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals. Assist in the configuration and programming of PLCs and DCS systems relevant to instrumentation. Follow strict safety procedures and protocols in all work activities. Document all maintenance, calibration, and repair activities accurately. Participate in training sessions and actively seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge. Work collaboratively with operations and maintenance teams. Support field activities, which may require working in various site conditions.
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Enrollment in or eligibility for a recognized Instrumentation or Electrical apprenticeship program. A strong mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial control systems. Basic understanding of electrical and electronic principles. Familiarity with hand and power tools. Ability to read and understand technical documentation. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions. Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces as required. Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
