Role Overview

We are seeking a Hong Kong

Registered

Inspector (RI) under the Buildings Department’s MBIS framework with strong experience in building diagnostics and Level II infrared thermography. The role focuses on building inspection, integration of thermal imaging (IR)for defect detection, and collaboration with our drone-based AI inspection platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as appointed RI for prescribed inspections and supervision of prescribed repairs under the Mandatory Building Inspection Scheme (MBIS).

• Plan and sign off statutory inspection scopes, reports, and repair supervision documents in accordance with Buildings Department requirements and relevant practice notes.

• Work with our drone and AI teams to design inspection methodologies integrating thermal imaging for water ingress, insulation, glazing and MEP/facade defects.

• Interpret and validate AI and thermographic findings, issue professional opinions, and coordinate with AP/RSE/RGE, property managers and contractors.

• Attend client and BD meetings as RI, provide technical justifications, and support submission packages.

• Develop internal standards and workflows for thermography‑driven facade and building diagnostics.

Min Requirements

• Registered Inspector (RI) in Hong Kong with name currently on the Inspectors’ Register kept by the Building Authority.

• Degree in architecture, structural/civil engineering, building surveying, or related discipline plus relevant professional membership (e.g. HKIA, HKIE, HKIS or equivalent).

• Proven experience in building / facade inspection and supervision of repairs under MBIS or similar statutory schemes.

• Hands-on experience in thermal imaging for buildings (e.g. infrared thermography for facade, roofing, MEP, water ingress or energy loss diagnostics).

• Strong knowledge of Buildings Ordinance, BD codes and practice notes relevant to building inspection and repair.

• Good communication skills in Chinese and English; able to handle client and authority communication.

Thermography Certification (Required / Strongly Preferred)

• Certification in thermography, e.g. Level II Infrared Thermographer from ITC/FLIR, Infraspection, IR Training Center or other recognized provider (minimum ~32 hours advanced thermography with examination), or equivalent Level II / Category 2 thermography training.

• Simple explanation (for HR/clients): a Level II thermographer can design IR inspection plans, choose correct camera settings, interpret thermal images, quantify temperatures, diagnose likely defects, and prepare professional reports, as well as supervise Level I operators.

Preferred / Advantageous

• Experience working with drones or remote inspection technologies for building/industrial assets.
