Job Title: Data Analytics (Data Scientist)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and business-oriented professional for the role of Data Analytics (Data Scientist). The incumbent will be responsible for designing and deploying advanced analytical and machine learning solutions to address complex business problems, particularly within the BFSI/insurance domain. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, statistical knowledge, and stakeholder communication capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and deploy predictive and machine learning models using structured and unstructured data sources.

  • Analyze large and complex datasets to derive actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.

  • Translate business problems into analytical frameworks and recommend appropriate modeling approaches.

  • Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques such as clustering, logistic regression, random forest, gradient boosting, support vector machines, and deep learning.

  • Perform data extraction, transformation, and data wrangling to prepare datasets for modeling and analysis.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver analytical solutions aligned with business objectives.

  • Communicate analytical findings effectively through presentations, dashboards, and reports to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Continuously monitor and improve model performance and ensure robustness and scalability of solutions.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Strong programming expertise in Python (mandatory), including libraries such as Pandas, Num

Py, scikit-learn.

  • Working knowledge of R is preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with machine learning model development and evaluation.

  • Experience working with large datasets and Big Data technologies is an asset.

  • Strong foundation in statistics, data modeling, and analytical problem-solving.

Functional Expertise

  • Experience in the BFSI domain, with preference for insurance analytics.

  • Ability to bridge the gap between technical outputs and business insights.

  • Experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with tools such as JIRA is preferred.

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Econometrics, or a related quantitative field;

OR Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BE/B-Tech), MCA, or MBA with strong quantitative focus.

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in predictive modeling and advanced analytics.

Additional Requirements

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

  • High level of attention to detail and problem-solving capability.

Pay: $65,052.85-$132,900.14 per year
