Senior Data Engineer

Blackbook.ai is growing and we're looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team. You'll work directly on client engagements — embedded with client teams to deliver practical, hands-on data solutions across inventory systems, cloud data platforms, and analytics infrastructure.

This is a delivery-focused role. You'll work alongside our Project Managers and Data Architects, taking ownership of technical execution and ensuring solutions are not just built, but adopted and sustainable for the long term. Client-facing experience and the ability to work on-site when required is essential.

What you'll be doing

• Stabilise and resolve critical data gaps in client systems

• Design and implement scalable data frameworks — migrating calculations and business logic from spreadsheets into SQL and automating manual processes

• Consolidate and optimise Snowflake integrations, reducing manual querying and improving performance

• Automate SQL and Python processes, and own performance tuning, legacy cleanup, and containerisation of key components

• Establish Dev

Ops foundations — enterprise Git repositories, Azure Dev

Ops, version control, and thorough documentation

• Build self-service reporting layers in Power BI or Tableau to improve data accessibility for accounting and business users

• Deliver knowledge transfer and handover documentation that leaves clients with capable, self-sufficient teams

What we're looking for

• Strong SQL and Python skills — writing, optimising, and automating queries and data pipelines

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake and cloud data architecture

• Familiarity with Azure Dev

Ops and Git-based version control workflows

• Experience with Power BI or Tableau and building self-service reporting layers

• Comfortable working on-site with clients and collaborating within agile sprint environments

• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

• Experience across operational, agricultural, or resource-sector data environments is a bonus
