Noah's Ark Children's Hospice
Bring confidence and care to families through the power of a haircut!
Living with a child’s diagnosis can place significant emotional and practical demands on the whole family. For many parents and carers, their own needs often fall to the bottom of the list. Something as simple as a good haircut can offer a moment of calm, lift someone’s confidence and make a genuine difference to their wellbeing.
We’re looking for skilled and compassionate volunteer hairdressers to offer ad-hoc appointments for Noah’s Ark families in the community. Whether it’s a wash, cut or style, your time and talent can help families feel cared for and valued.
We welcome volunteers from a variety of hairdressing backgrounds, including those experienced with different hair types, male and female clients, and children.
All volunteers undergo an extensive training programme before starting in their role to give them the skills, knowledge and confidence to feel prepared. For this role, this includes:
Volunteer Information Session: All potential volunteers have to attend one of these sessions before they are able to support Noah’s Ark in any capacity.
Interview: This will take place at the Noah’s Ark Office or online at a mutually agreeable time.
Core Training: a full day of training on our approach to working with children and families including confidentiality boundaries, understanding grief and more.
Home Module Training: A weekday afternoon session to prepare volunteers for the specific requirements of the Home Support Volunteer role.
Safeguarding Training: 1 weekday evening, depending on the schedule, essential for ensuring the safety of our service.
Please note: Volunteers are also required to undergo an Enhanced DBS Check and supply 2 character references for this roles
