Job Summary
The Project Manager (Engineering) leads and delivers offshore and onshore projects in oil and gas, ensuring compliance with contractual and internal requirements. You will manage teams, client relations, project execution, and optimize costs while fostering talent growth and HSSE culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead the project team to achieve project goals according to plan and contractual requirements
- Define and maintain clear project organization, roles, and accountabilities
- Assess and ensure the project team has the necessary skills and expertise to deliver project outcomes
- Manage communication and reporting among all internal project members to maintain alignment
- Foster teamwork and collaboration within the project team and with external stakeholders
- Provide leadership across all project phases: initiation, planning, execution, control, and close-out
- Drive HSSE and Quality culture throughout the project lifecycle
- Own and implement the Execution Strategy, Project Execution Plan, and Project Business Plan
- Communicate project objectives and targets clearly to the project team and stakeholders
- Serve as the primary liaison with the client, managing communications, reporting, and relationship building
- Challenge and improve project performance, especially for special projects
- Optimize project costs and manage cash flow effectively
- Maximize project revenues and ensure adherence to Management of Change and Risk processes
- Summarize and communicate the contract baseline (cost, schedule, scope, regulatory, client obligations, acceptance criteria, insurance, liabilities) to the project team
- Notify the client promptly of any detected scope changes per contract terms
- Ensure functional employees have the competencies required to meet current and future business priorities by providing development information to line managers
- Deliver timely individual feedback and ensure performance issues are addressed promptly by line managers
- Promote a motivating work environment that supports employee growth and development
- Champion talent growth by facilitating cross-departmental and cross-project exposure and opportunities
- Provide guidance on allocating department/team development budgets to maximize talent development aligned with business needs
- Advocate for appropriate employee time allocation for development activities
- Coach and mentor employees, contribute to development action plans, and support retention efforts
Required competencies and certifications
- Technical or tertiary education at Bachelor’s degree level; Master’s degree is an advantage
- Minimum 10 to 15+ years of project management experience in the oil and gas industry, specifically offshore and/or onshore projects
- Experience in major offshore project execution
- Experience in Project Management of EPCI projects, including yard work
- Proficient in MS Excel and Primavera P6 software
- Excellent leadership and communication skills in both Korean and English, including report writing and presentations
- Ability to independently prioritize tasks and work proactively with team members and clients
- Knowledge of industry-standard Project Management best practices and AACE standards
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience in the FPSO/FSO/FLNG sector is highly desired
