OVERVIEW
Cult Gaia is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Head of Business Development, APAC & Greater China to lead the growth and expansion of the brand across Greater China and key APAC markets.
This role is responsible for driving the regional growth strategy with a primary focus on Tmall, China digital commerce, retail expansion, and strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building luxury or contemporary brands within China — managing Tmall businesses, opening retail stores, and developing strong relationships across the APAC luxury retail ecosystem.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Tmall & China Digital Commerce
- Lead the overall Tmall and China digital commerce strategy.
- Drive sales growth, profitability, customer acquisition, and market share across Tmall and key China platforms.
- Manage relationships with Alibaba, Tmall, agency partners, and operators.
- Develop annual business plans, sales forecasts, and growth initiatives.
- Monitor performance and identify opportunities to improve conversion, traffic, and ROI.
Retail Expansion
- Develop and execute Cult Gaia’s retail growth strategy across Greater China and APAC.
- Identify and evaluate new store opportunities, pop-ups, shop-in-shops, and strategic retail partnerships.
- Build relationships with landlords, developers, and retail partners.
- Support lease negotiations and store-opening initiatives.
- Ensure all retail opportunities align with brand and financial objectives.
Business Development
- Identify new growth opportunities across distribution, wholesale, and strategic partnerships.
- Develop market-entry strategies for key APAC markets.
- Build and manage relationships with key industry partners.
- Partner cross-functionally to execute regional growth initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of experience within luxury, premium, or contemporary fashion.
- Proven experience managing Tmall and China digital commerce businesses.
- Strong understanding of the Alibaba ecosystem and China consumer landscape.
- Experience opening retail stores and managing landlord relationships.
- Strong network within the APAC luxury retail market.
- Excellent commercial, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Results driven with strong analytical and strategic capabilities.
