A growing commodity trading business is looking to appoint an experienced Trade Finance Analyst to support its expanding trading operations.
This role will work closely with Treasury and Trading teams, taking ownership of trade finance activities across Letters of Credit, guarantees, structured financing solutions, and collateral management. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient financing, robust risk management, and the development of scalable trade finance processes as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the issuance and administration of Letters of Credit, guarantees, and other trade finance instruments.
- Review and structure LC terms to ensure commercial viability and compliance with industry best practices.
- Coordinate with banks, counterparties, and internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth execution of transactions.
- Review trade documentation, shipping documents, and invoices to ensure compliance with financing requirements.
- Support the structuring and implementation of trade finance facilities, including inventory financing, storage financing, factoring, and invoice discounting solutions.
- Manage the lifecycle of trade finance transactions from execution through settlement and reporting.
- Develop and maintain relationships with banks, credit insurers, and financial institutions.
- Monitor financing markets and identify opportunities to optimise funding costs and liquidity.
- Oversee collateral management activities, including margin calls, collateral transfers, reconciliations, and liquidity forecasting.
- Support Trading teams with financial analysis and risk management related to financing and collateral obligations.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in trade finance.
- At least 3 years' experience within the oil & gas, energy, or commodity trading sector.
- Strong knowledge of Letters of Credit, guarantees, trade finance structures, and collateral management.
- Experience with invoice financing, structured trade finance, and working capital solutions.
- Proven ability to manage banking relationships and negotiate financing arrangements.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA, ACT, or CTP are advantageous.
- Experience with trade finance platforms is beneficial.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
