Overview
Join a growing international bank in Hong Kong as Team Head – Global Markets Operations, leading the team that supports the full post‑trade lifecycle for Global Markets products. You will oversee day‑to‑day operations, controls and regulatory reporting while driving process, systems and governance enhancements across FX, rates, credit and structured products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Global Markets Operations (GMO) team, setting clear objectives, performance standards and operating practices to deliver robust post‑trade support and exceptional service to the business.
- Act as the primary GMO representative in governance and risk forums, providing updates on operational risk, incidents and remediation, and contributing to the strengthening of markets control frameworks.
- Partner with Head Office, local branches and key stakeholders (Front Office, Risk, Finance, Legal, Compliance) to resolve complex booking and settlement issues, ensuring consistent practices and escalation across locations.
- Oversee and sign off on periodic regulatory submissions and internal surveys/management reports related to Global Markets activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and adherence to regulatory expectations.
- Ensure departmental SOPs and control procedures are complete, up to date and embedded in daily operations, and drive continuous process re‑engineering to enhance STP, efficiency and settlement‑risk mitigation.
- Coach and develop team members, fostering a strong performance and accountability culture focused on integrity, collaboration, risk awareness and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years’ relevant experience in back‑office operations within financial institutions, including solid supervisory/managerial experience in Global Markets or capital markets operations (ideally from an investment/wholesale bank environment).
- In‑depth knowledge of end‑to‑end settlement and operations for Global Markets products, including FX, derivatives, structured products, fixed income, Exchange Fund Bills and Notes, certificates of deposit and structured notes.
- Strong understanding of margining processes under Global Master Repurchase Agreements (GMRA) and Credit Support Annexes (CSA), as well as practical experience with HKTR trade reporting and exception management.
- Hands‑on familiarity with key systems and market infrastructures such as Summit, SWIFT, RTGS, Clearstream‑Xact and CMBT, with the ability to oversee controls and support system enhancements and UAT.
- Proven leadership, stakeholder‑management and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise, influence and collaborate effectively across Front Office, control and support functions in a high‑pressure environment.
- Fluency in spoken and written English, plus good command of Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
