Purpose of roleLead and drive the regional execution of the company’s Safety, Health, Environmental (SHE) and Process Safety strategy, standards, and initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance, operational excellence, risk reduction, and a strong SHE culture across all operations within the assigned region of INEOS Aromatics and INEOS Styrolution.
Act as the senior regional SHE leader and trusted advisor to regional operations leadership of INEOS Aromatics and INEOS Styrolution on SHE and Process Safety matters.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities of the Job1/ Regional SHE & Process Safety Leadership Deploy and execute global SHE and Process Safety strategies, standards, and initiatives within the assigned region.
Ensure effective regional implementation and operationalization of SHE programs, management systems, and governance requirements.
Promote a proactive SHE culture focused on operational discipline, risk reduction, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Advise regional leadership on SHE and Process Safety risks, priorities, and operational improvement opportunities.
Coach and mentor SHE professionals, Process Safety resources, and operational leadership teams.
Support cross-site operational learning and sharing of SHE and Process Safety best practices.2/ Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with applicable SHE regulations and corporate requirements across the assigned region.
Lead regional regulatory and compliance management activities.
Coordinate SHE audits, gap assessments, inspections, and compliance reviews.
Monitor and track corrective actions resulting from audits, incidents, and assessments.
Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures.
Lead initiatives focused on prevention of serious injuries, fatalities, and high-consequence operational events.
Promote implementation of Life Saving Rules and critical risk verification processes.
Support regional emergency preparedness, crisis response, and business continuity planning activities.
Provide leadership support during significant SHE incidents and emergency events.3/ Process Safety & Major Risk Management Lead regional implementation and performance management of the global Process Safety Management (PSM) framework.
Ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement of process safety standards, systems, and critical risk controls.
Support sites in execution of HAZOPs, Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), process hazard analyses, and management of change (MOC) processes.
Oversee regional learning and follow-up actions related to process safety incidents and high-potential events.
Monitor process safety KPIs and barrier health indicators across the region.
Ensure alignment with corporate process safety standards, asset integrity requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Coach operational leadership and site teams on critical risk management and process safety culture.
Support development and capability building of regional process safety resources.4/ Operational Excellence & Performance Improvement Monitor, analyze, and report regional SHE KPIs (SPI’s) and performance trends.
Lead regional SHE performance improvement initiatives aligned with global priorities.
Support consistent execution of SHE expectations across all regional operations through regular field engagement, operational reviews, coaching, and performancemonitoring.
Drive standardization and optimization of SHE systems, processes, and reporting tools within the region.
Support capital projects and operational changes to ensure SHE requirements are effectively integrated.
Collaborate with site leadership to improve operational SHE performance and risk management effectiveness.
Support contractor SHE management and high-risk activity governance.
Promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational reliability, workforce engagement, and risk reduction.5/ Environmental Compliance & Sustainability Support Support environmental compliance and operational sustainability initiatives across the region.
Coordinate environmental reporting, emissions tracking, and environmental performance data validation.
Promote environmental risk reduction and resource efficiency initiatives.
Ensure effective implementation of environmental management systems and monitoring programs.
Support alignment with corporate environmental objectives as defined by Global Operations.6/ Systems, Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement Lead regional SHE reporting processes and management reviews.
Support implementation and continuous improvement of SHE digital systems and compliance tools.
Prepare executive presentations, dashboards, and management updates for regional leadership and Global SHE.Coordinate SHE communication, awareness campaigns, and training initiatives.
Build effective relationships with regulators, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and support decision-making.
Required ProfileLevel of education & Knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry, or related technical discipline.
Advanced degree in Engineering, Business, Environmental Management, or related field preferred.
Strong knowledge of chemical manufacturing operations, process safety, environmental compliance, and SHE management systems.
Strong understanding of operational risk management, asset integrity, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
Experience in general:10–15+ years of progressive SHE leadership experience within chemical manufacturing, industrial operations, or related high-hazard industries.
Experience managing regional or multi-site SHE and Process Safety programs in complex operational environments.
Demonstrated success influencing leadership teams and driving organizational change.
Experience working in multicultural and matrix organizations preferred.
Fluent in English; additional regional language capabilities considered an advantage.
