About the opportunity
Our client is an innovative and fast-growing technology company based in Amsterdam.
Operating in an international and project-driven environment, the business is entering its next stage of growth and is looking to strengthen its finance function with an experienced Senior Accountant.
This is a hands-on role offering significant ownership and visibility across the organization. You will be responsible for ensuring a robust financial administration, supporting reporting processes, and helping prepare the business for future growth and increasing compliance requirements.
The role
As Senior Accountant, you will oversee the day-to-day financial administration while taking ownership of period closings, reporting, and internal control processes.
Working closely with senior leadership and external advisors, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong financial controls, and contribute to the continued professionalization of the finance function.
What you will do
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and other accounting adjustments
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure financial data integrity
- Monitor project-related revenues, costs, and work-in-progress balances
- Prepare management reporting, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow overviews
- Support cash management activities and short-term liquidity planning
- Review and oversee transactional finance processes, including accounts payable and receivable
- Improve and document financial procedures, controls, and workflows
- Support external audit processes and act as a key contact for auditors
- Provide financial insights to support operational and commercial decision-making
- Drive process improvements and contribute to the further development of the finance function.
Who you are
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Economics, or a related field4-6 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, financial control, or a similar finance role
- Proven experience managing month-end and year-end closing processes
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience working with ERP systems; knowledge of Exact is desirable
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on environment with broad responsibilities
- Strong attention to detail combined with a pragmatic mindset
- Fluent in Dutch and professionally proficient in English
- Preferred profile Experience supporting external audits or implementing internal control framework.
- Exposure to project-based, manufacturing, engineering, technology, or scale-up environments
- Experience working in international organizations
- Additional accounting qualifications are considered an advantage
