We are partnering with a growing, PE-backed Irish business to appoint an Accountant to join its finance team at an important stage in the company’s development.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who wants more than a narrow accounting role. The business is scaling, the finance function is evolving, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to build broad experience across reporting, controls, systems, transactional finance and operational support.
While this is a developing role today, the opportunity is much bigger. The right person will work closely with senior finance leadership, gain exposure to decision-makers across the business, and play a meaningful part in building a high-quality finance function capable of supporting future growth.
For someone who is motivated, commercially curious and keen to progress, this could be a strong platform to grow into a future senior finance role.
The Role
This is a hands-on finance position with exposure across the full finance cycle.
Responsibilities will include
- Supporting monthly accounts preparation and management reporting
- Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and control account reviews
- Assisting with variance analysis and regular management information
- Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activity
- Helping improve billing processes and reduce manual work
- Assisting with payroll processing and related reconciliations
- Processing expenses in line with company policy
- Supporting job costing and revenue recognition
- Experience of subcontractor payment processes, including RCT, VAT treatment and related compliance requirements
- Assisting with audit preparation and year-end activity
- Preparing ad hoc analysis and supporting wider finance projects
- The successful candidate will also contribute to ongoing improvement across systems, controls, reporting processes and ways of working.
- This is a role where you will be encouraged to take ownership, learn quickly and become an increasingly important part of the finance team.
The PersonWe are looking for someone who is ambitious, reliable and eager to develop. You may be part-qualified, studying, or ideally qualified by experience, but you will bring strong accounting fundamentals and a genuine interest in building your career in a growing business.
The ideal candidate will bring
- Experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally within construction, engineering, contracting, infrastructure or a related operational environment
- Exposure to subcontractor finance processes, including RCT, subcontractor VAT issues and payment workflows
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles
- Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail
- Experience with accounting systems, ideally Xero or a similar platform
- A proactive, organised and dependable approach
- Confidence working in a busy, operational environment
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative style
- A willingness to take ownership and get involved with the business
- Why This Role
- This is a strong opportunity to join a high-growth, PE-backed business at a pivotal point in its journey.
- You will work closely with senior finance colleagues, gain exposure to a dynamic and fast-moving environment, and build the kind of broad experience that can accelerate your career.
- The package is competitive, with development opportunities, study support where relevant, and genuine scope to progress as the business and finance function continue to grow.
