Retail Sales Associate (Temporary Worker)

Phoenix Comics and Games is looking for a temporary retail sales associate to join our team from July to September! We're a locally owned and operated comic and game store serving Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood since 2013. We facilitate events in our gaming and community space as well as selling comics, board games, miniatures, role playing games, and much much more.

The ideal candidate is someone who has knowledge of at least a few different aspects of the business (such as Magic the Gathering, D&D, board games, comics & graphic novels, etc.). We're looking for a motivated individual who can work independently on projects given to them between customer interactions and support the rest of the team during either mid or evening shifts.

We're currently looking for someone who can work at least one weekend day, up to 3-4 days a week. Schedules here tend to be fairly static, but there is some flexibility expected during special events like Magic prereleases and team member vacation requests.

Important Note: Phoenix Comics & Games is a Union Store. Our team members here are represented by the UFCW3000. This position is a temporary non-union position with a maximum of 90 days of employment per our contract.

General Duties (aka Stuff you'll be doing at the shop)

• Selling and recommending Comics, Board Games, Graphic Novels, Minis, Role Playing Games and other associated products to customers based on your own industry experience and knowledge.
• Processing sales via our front-end point of sale software and our online storefront, including orders for single Magic: the Gathering cards, in a timely fashion.
• Maintaining and updating customer subscription files; assisting new customers with starting up their own subscription files.
• Cleaning and maintaining the store on a day-to-day basis.
• Supporting scheduled events and moving display units to modify our space to suit our day-to-day event needs.

Essential Position Functions and Requirements

• Previous Retail / Service Industry Experience
• Willingness to have a flexible schedule; must be able to work at least one weekend day and nights until close if necessary.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Being comfortable being on your feet and on the sales floor area for the majority of your shift.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.74 - $23.24 per hour
