About us

The Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) is a Dutch International Primary and Secondary School offering international education in English to approximately 2400 students of more than 80 different nationalities who are (temporarily) living in the Netherlands and are enjoying high quality, accessible, community based international learning.

The AICS is a partly-state-funded community school, which enables us to deliver high-quality education at competitive fees. We were the first school in the Netherlands to offer the full IB continuum (IB, PYP, MYP, DP and CP) and are a fully accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS).AICS students value and embrace differences and diversity.

• At least two years of primary school teaching experience - experience preferably in the IB PYP programme
• A valid primary teaching qualification recognised by DUO to be able to teach in a primary school in the Netherlands (specifically with PHE recognition)
• Excellent knowledge and experience of teaching and educational methodologies
• An understanding and knowledge of various cultural backgrounds
• Excellent command of the English language and communication skills
• A commitment to the school’s mission to provide high-quality community-based international learning in the form of the IB programme
• A resilient attitude and a good sense of humour
• You excel in planning and organising engaging lessons while building and maintaining strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.

About the position

For the primary school, we are looking for a qualified PHE teacher with a strong understanding of inquiry-based learning. Ideally, you would have some experience in the International Baccalaureate “Primary Years Programme” (PYP). You feel confident being part of a large school community, collaborating on curriculum planning and enjoy working as part of a professional team.

You are able to cater for students with many different social, emotional, and educational needs, from a variety of different cultural backgrounds and countries.

We offer Salary in LB payscale, based upon knowledge and experience (min. €3.622,- max. €5.520,- full-time per month, before tax).
