SUMMARYThe Director of Sales provides sales leadership, representation, and account management to major retailers in Australia and New Zealand. This role is responsible for developing strategies to meet or exceed target KPIs for both sales and margin. The Director will work cross-functionally with various departments, including operations, to drive initiatives that enhance customer operational excellence.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Drive sales for Kids2, targeting retailers, distribution channels, and new business development.
- Build and maintain customer relationships, collaborating with senior leadership at retailers to grow the business.
- Manage and develop your team both locally and globally.
- Conduct responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving issues.
- Achieve assigned sales goals for new and existing products, including strategic volume and promotional planning, budget adherence, and execution of sales and marketing initiatives.
- Develop, monitor, and analyze sales forecasts and related data, including profitability and rate of sale.
- Recognize competitive business challenges while leading the development and implementation of strategic plans to grow the business and the categories where we compete.
- Serve as the main point of contact with all internal departments for assigned accounts, including product development, marketing, manufacturing, order entry, shipping, and accounting.
- Create and implement strategies to improve sales and profits, acting as an expert advisor to Buyers.
- Develop long-term account strategies, including analysis of products, pricing, and consumer trends.
- Maintain a strong understanding of external market factors and competitive information to make informed account decisions and product recommendations.
- Manage the Sydney office and develop local suppliers, including those in legal, IT, marketing, and graphic design, to achieve business goals.
- Understand all products that Kids2 actively sells, while also keeping a clear grasp of new items in development.
- Participate in channel management for retailer accounts, becoming an expert in the assigned retail channels, including direct online and offline retailers as well as distributors and wholesalers.
- Collaborate with product development teams on online planning, channel strategy, and provide specific retail partner expertise.
- Business travel is required.
- Manage relationships with independent distributors and brokers.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Qualifications & Experience:
- Requires 10 to 15 years of leadership experience in consumer products sales, preferably directly with major retailers.
- Requires 5+ years of formal leadership experience.
- Must have strong attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, independent decision-making ability, teamwork skills, and creative problem-solving capability.
- Proven ability to manage Key Accounts and Distributors in the APAC business, with a business development mindset, knowledge of the APAC market, and experience in people leadership.
- Working knowledge and practical use of AI tools.
