The Manager, Cabin Assurance & Projects is responsible for providing independent assurance that Qantas Cabin Crew operational activities are conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, Group Safety Management System (SMS) standards, internal policies andapproved operational procedures.
The role focuses on the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of Cabin Operations assurance activities, including audits, surveillance, monitoring, and verification of control effectiveness across the Cabin operating environment.
The Manager, Cabin Assurance & Projects leads the design and execution of the Cabin Operations assurance program (including LOSA), ensuring assurance activities are risk-based, outcome-focused and aligned to Group assurance frameworks.
The role provides confidence to the Senior Manager Cabin Safety, executive leadership and governance forums that safety risks are being effectivelymanaged, non-conformances are identified early, and corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
The role is responsible for the development, production and presentation of clear, accurate and timely audit and assurance reports for Group Safety, Qantas Airlines Safety, Cabin Crew management, Cabin Policy & Procedures, Regulatory Policy & Compliance, Inflight Service Design, Flight Operations, Engineering, Airports, and Cabin Crew Operations audiences to support continuous improvement, while maintaining independence from operational ownership and regulatory policy development.
This includes translating assurance outcomes into meaningful insights that support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
The role also leads targeted communication to Cabin Crew, highlighting areas of non-conformance, emerging risks and behavioural trends, ensuring findings are communicated in a constructive, transparent and learning-focused manner that supports compliance, accountability and operational safety.
The Manager, Cabin Assurance & Project is the lead SME for Safety Projects, including but not limited to Aircraft Projects. Supporting Cabin Crew in SME advice on applicable regulatory requirements, facilitating Risk Assessment, fulfilling WHS Consultation requirements.
The role provides people leadership to assurance resources within a matrix environment, setting clear expectations, building capability and maintaining high standards of assurance quality and professionalism, as well as supporting internal and external audits, regulatory interactions (as required), and the tracking and closure of assurance findings.
You’ll have –Minimum experience of 7 years of operational in aviation operations or assurance.
Degree or equivalent qualification in Aviation, Safety Management, Risk, Engineering, Operational Management or a related discipline.
Lead Auditor Qualification ISO9001:1015Proven ability to lead and collaborate effectively across business units, AOCs andexternal stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership in managing and inspiring a large, diverse team of safety advocates across remote and geographically dispersed locations.
Demonstrated experience leading, coaching or managing assurance, audit or safetyprofessionals.
Proven ability to lead Risk Assessments.A working knowledge of CASA regulations and industry guidance and requirements.A working knowledge of the Qantas SMS and safety management standardsincluding the QRAG.Strong capability in planning, conducting and evaluating risk‑based audits andassurance activities to verify control effectiveness within a regulated environment.
Ability to support aircraft projects and Entry Into Service by assessing operationalreadiness, safety risks and control transitions into business‑as‑usual operations.
Ability to interpret complex information, identify systemic issues and provide sound,evidence‑based assurance conclusions under operational and time pressure.
Proven skill in constructively challenging senior leaders, project teams and operational stakeholders while maintaining credibility, independence and productive working relationships.
Demonstrated ability to engage with Health and Safety Representatives and unionson sensitive assurance matters, balancing consultation, transparency and governance obligations.
Ability to lead, coach and manage assurance resources through dotted‑line orrotational arrangements, maintaining consistency, quality and professional standards.
Lead Auditor qualifications desired but not essentialSkills and experience in desktop programs such as MS Word and PowerPoint.
High level of operational performance.
An ability to work independently and part of a team.A high level of time and prioritization management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including:
Ability to communicate assurance outcomes to non-technical audiences.
Skill in influencing safe behaviours through evidence-based messaging.
