Overview
Compass is seeking a detail-oriented Operations & Projects Analyst to support longer-term projects across sales, marketing, operations, compliance, and internal systems. This role will support both our office and school supply division and — primarily — our high-end promotional products division based in New York.
We specialize in branded tools, lights, outdoor gear, utility products, and other retail-recognized promotional items sold to corporate clients and distributors. This role sits at the intersection of data, systems, and cross-functional business support, and is a great fit for someone who likes solving problems, improving processes, and using technology to make work easier.
This is a full-time hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in our NYC office. For the right candidate, there is real room for growth and advancement as the company continues to scale.
Duties
- Support special projects across sales, marketing, operations, compliance, and other departments — with primary focus on our promotional products division
- Clean, organize, and maintain spreadsheets, reports, account lists, product data, and internal records
- Use Excel to sort, filter, analyze, and present information clearly — including pivot tables, lookups, and large data sets
- Update CRM records, enter account details, and track follow-up activity
- Build account, customer, and sales reports that support sales and marketing decisions
- Identify errors, missing information, and inconsistencies across reports, CRM records, and product data
- Help build better systems for tracking projects, organizing information, and managing repeatable workflows
- Coordinate project details, timelines, and follow-ups across multiple departments
- Use AI tools, where helpful, for research, summaries, process documentation, and draft writing — with careful review for accuracy and tone.
Qualifications
- Strong Excel skills required — formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data cleanup, and large spreadsheets
- Experience with CRM systems, account data, sales reporting, or operational records
- Sharp attention to detail with the ability to catch errors and inconsistencies
- Strong organization, follow-up, and project management skills
- Comfortable switching between data work, internal systems, and cross-department projects
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work independently and collaborate across a team
- Familiarity with AI tools is a plus, especially with the judgment to review and improve AI-assisted output
- Background in promotional products, branded merchandise, or wholesale distribution is a plus but not required.
