JHC Consulting
JHC Consulting is an independent advisory firm that provides counsel to chief executives, board committees, and heads of industry. We are currently working alongside our partner, a national healthcare provider, to deliver strategic advice and governance support.
Because our practice holds that written argument produces sharper thinking than conversation, we present our findings in highly structured digital memoranda rather than slide decks. We are looking for a Junior CSS Developer to join our team in a hybrid capacity, helping us design and refine the typography, layout, and visual presentation of these documents so they are highly readable for executive leadership.
In this role, you will focus on the clear presentation of the written word. Your day-to-day work involves writing clean, semantic HTML and hand-crafted CSS to structure and style our digital memoranda. You will build and maintain clean stylesheets that ensure our long-form texts are easy to digest on any screen, from tablets to desktop monitors.
This is an entry-level position where you will work closely with our analytical team, taking their raw written analyses and shaping them into polished, highly readable web-based documents. You will also help maintain our internal style library, optimizing print stylesheets and resolving layout quirks to ensure a consistent experience across all devices.
We need someone who understands that styling text is about clarity, not decoration. You should have a solid foundational grasp of CSS and HTML, including layout systems like Flexbox and Grid. An eye for typography, line heights, and spacing is essential, as our work relies heavily on long-form reading.
While a background in design is helpful, your primary skill should be the ability to translate layout ideas into clean, maintainable code. Since we value the discipline of writing, we expect you to communicate your technical choices clearly.
This is an entry-level role, so we do not expect years of professional experience, but we do look for a portfolio of personal projects, coursework, or templates that show you can write structured CSS without relying on heavy frameworks.
How we work
At JHC Consulting, we do not produce slide presentations or participate in typical management consulting ceremonies. Our focus is entirely on the document. Every piece of advice we deliver to our healthcare partner represents a rigorous, written argument that can be kept on file for years.
We believe in individual responsibility, where the professional who does the analysis also signs their name to the final memorandum. As our Junior CSS Developer, your work directly supports this model by ensuring that the medium matches the message, making complex advisory papers accessible and elegant in their digital form.
Working at JHC Consulting
This is a permanent, full-time position that functions under a hybrid arrangement, combining the focus of independent home-office work with scheduled weekly sessions at our workspace to collaborate on typographic design system updates. We offer a structured and quiet environment where deep work is respected and uninterrupted.
This position is a paid role that features competitive pay along with opportunities to build a portfolio of high-impact digital editorial design. Our team is deliberate and small by design, allowing you to learn directly from experienced principals.
Our work is built on the belief that clear presentation reflects clear thinking. Because our principals sign their names to the bottom of every page we produce, we hold our design and development standards to the same high levels of individual accountability. Joining our team means committing to a quiet discipline, where your CSS code will help shape the critical reading of board members and healthcare executives.
