Dublin, HybridMy client a multinational organisation is on the lookout for a Backend Engineer on a permanent basis in Dublin
The Job
- Build and maintain scalable backend services in Python for IoT devices and mobile applications across multiple serverless microservices
- Develop and support cloud-native solutions using AWS Lambda and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Contribute throughout the full application lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to deployment and monitoring
- Deliver integrations with external partner platforms and third-party services
- Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule for platform operations
- Keep current with emerging technologies, tools, and backend engineering best practices
- Have You:3+ years of experience building backend services in Python
- Strong understanding of event-driven architectures, including messaging and asynchronous processing patterns
- Hands-on production experience with AWS Lambda and infrastructure-as-code tooling
- Experience with observability tooling, including structured logging and distributed tracing
- Used AI-assisted development tools to improve coding, debugging, testing, and operational workflows
- Strong communication skills in English with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with modern Python tooling and frameworks such as Pydantic, ORM/migration tools, NoSQL databases, caching systems, or search platforms
- Familiarity with automated testing approaches and AWS service mocking
- Experience working with IoT platforms or connected-device ecosystems
