International Air Transport Association (IATA)
You Are JoiningReporting to the Head of Data Engineering, you will join a hands-on engineering team responsible for designing, building, and operating cloud-based data platforms and data products that support IATA’s strategic priorities.
We work across modern data technologies including AWS, Snowflake, Power BI and Confluent. Our focus is on delivering reliable, scalable, secure, and cost-efficient data solutions that create real business value.
We are passionate about technology, but pragmatic in how we use it. We continuously improve the way we work, explore new engineering practices, and are actively adopting modern AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools to increase delivery quality and productivity.
What Your Day Would Be LikeDesign, build, deploy, and maintain scalable batch and real time data pipelines using AWS (services like Glue, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Athena and others), Snowflake and Confluent.
Develop, optimize, and maintain data transformation workflows using SQL, Python, Spark, dbt and similar technologies.
Build and support real-time data streaming solutions using Confluent.
Integrate data solutions with Power BI, Collibra data catalog and data quality frameworks.
Support data scientists, analysts, and business teams in accessing, querying, and using data effectively across the data platforms.
Manage data access controls and security policies using AWS IAM, Lake Formation, and Snowflake.
Provision and manage cloud infrastructure and services using Infrastructure as Code tools such as AWS CloudFormation and Terraform.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing, versioning, deployment, and release management for data solutions.
Apply data privacy, compliance, governance, and security requirements throughout the full solution lifecycle.
Collaborate with software engineering, architecture, analytics, data science, and business teams to integrate data capabilities into broader IATA solutions.
Actively participate in projects by validating third-party deliveries, working with data architects to identify the best technical solution, providing estimates for development work, and contributing beyond implementation activities.
Use AWS and Snowflake cost management tools to monitor, optimize, and control platform costs.
Explore and apply AI-assisted and agentic engineering practices using tools such as Cursor, or similar platforms to improve development speed, code quality, testing, documentation, and operational efficiency.
We would love to hear from you ifA bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, data, information systems, or another relevant technical field.5+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform engineering, or a similar technical role.
Strong knowledge of AWS services in the context of data processing, including Lambda, Step Functions, S3, Athena, Glue, Lake Formation and CloudFormation.
Strong proficiency in SQL and Python. Experience with R would be a nice to have.
Experience designing, building, and operating data pipelines in cloud-based environments.
Experience with Snowflake, dbt and data streaming technologies, preferably Kafka and/or Confluent.
Experience with CI/CD tools, automated testing, version control, and general DevOps practices.
Understanding of data security, access control, privacy, and governance principles.
Curiosity and practical experience with AI-assisted software development or agentic engineering tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar technologies.A collaborative mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work across technical and business teams.
