Senior AI Application Engineer
Location: Woodbridge, ON (Hybrid - 3 days onsite per week)
Physical Presence: Hybrid - 3 days per week in office
Contract: June 29, 2026 to December 31, 2026
Rate: 80-95/h Corp to corp
We are currently seeking a Senior AI Application Engineer to join a high-impact technology team focused on delivering enterprise-grade AI solutions. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with expertise in Large Language Models (LLMs), multi-agent systems, full stack development, and AI governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain end-to-end AI-powered applications across frontend, backend, and AI/LLM integrations, including multi-agent orchestration patterns.
- Develop user-facing solutions such as copilots, conversational interfaces, intelligent search capabilities, and workflow automation tools.
- Build AI-powered integrations and extensions for enterprise SaaS platforms including Salesforce, Workday, and ServiceNow.
- Design and implement guardrails, output validation, monitoring, and fallback mechanisms to manage non-deterministic AI behavior.
- Develop evaluation frameworks and testing strategies for AI systems using automated and human-in-the-loop validation approaches.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering, Machine Learning, Security, Architecture, QA, and Operations teams to deliver reliable AI-enabled solutions.
- Participate in architecture reviews, security assessments, and threat modeling activities related to AI implementations.
- Contribute to AI engineering standards, reusable frameworks, governance practices, and development patterns.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience building modern full stack applications.
- Strong development experience with Java and/or Node.js and working knowledge of Python.
- Experience with React, Next.js, REST APIs, and modern web application development.
- Hands-on experience integrating LLMs and AI/ML services into production applications.
- Expertise in prompt engineering, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), agent orchestration, and tool integration.
- Experience designing and managing non-deterministic systems, including validation frameworks, confidence scoring, and graceful degradation strategies.
- Knowledge of AI security practices including OWASP principles, threat modeling, prompt injection mitigation, and data protection.
- Experience implementing AI observability, monitoring, logging, drift detection, and performance tracking.
- Experience integrating enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, Workday, and ServiceNow.
- Cloud-native development experience with AWS, OpenShift/Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and HashiCorp Vault.
- Experience building or integrating agent frameworks and evaluation harnesses.
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, SDLC governance, and enterprise delivery standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
Nice to Have
- Experience with multi-agent architectures and inter-agent communication patterns.
- Deep expertise in RAG architectures, embeddings, vector databases, and semantic search.
- Experience implementing responsible AI practices, including bias detection, content filtering, and PII management.
- Experience extending enterprise SaaS platforms through APIs, SDKs, or integration frameworks.
- Experience with AWS AgentCore and large-scale AI agent deployment.
- Experience working within formal governance frameworks involving change management and CAB approvals.
- Demonstrated contributions to engineering standards, reusable libraries, mentorship, or technology adoption initiatives.
