Our client, a leading and growing retail organisation, is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to join their people team. This is an exciting opportunity to partner directly with operational leaders across a large retail network, influencing people strategy while remaining hands-on in the day-to-day realities of the business.
Reporting to the Head of HR, you will support a workforce of approximately 750 employees across multiple locations and play a key role in driving employee engagement, leadership capability, organisational effectiveness and operational performance.
The Opportunity
This is a true HR Business Partner role offering exposure across employee relations, leadership coaching, organisational design, talent development, engagement initiatives and strategic HR projects.
You will work closely with Retail Directors, Area Managers and Store Managers, providing practical HR support while helping leaders develop the skills and confidence to manage their teams effectively.
This is a high-volume, dynamic environment that requires someone who can quickly build credibility, influence stakeholders and confidently navigate competing priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business leaders to provide commercially focused HR support and guidance
- Manage complex employee relations matters from initial consultation through to resolution
- Coach and develop managers on performance management, employee engagement and people leadership
- Support organisational design, workforce planning and change initiatives
- Drive employee engagement and culture initiatives across the business
- Partner with Learning & Development teams to identify capability gaps and support training programmes
- Support recruitment and talent initiatives alongside the Talent Acquisition team
- Analyse people data and trends to support decision-making and business performance
- Build strong relationships across multiple stakeholder groups and locations
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance manager capability and drive operational efficiency
About You
You are an experienced HR professional who enjoys being close to the business and partnering with leaders to solve problems.
- You will ideally bring:5+ years' HR experience, including experience in a HR Business Partner, Senior HR Generalist or similar role
- Strong employee relations experience and confidence managing complex people matters
- Experience supporting operational, retail, logistics, hospitality, healthcare or similarly fast-paced environments
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Strong commercial awareness and an interest in how people initiatives impact business performance
- The confidence to challenge, coach and support managers at all levels
- A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to work independently
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- A willingness to travel occasionally to business locations
