Overview
A leading organisation delivering operational cyber capabilities is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its growing technical team in Manchester. This is an opportunity to work on highly secure, mission-critical projects supporting cyber operations in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software solutions used within operational cyber programmes, working closely with engineers, analysts, and technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications using Python and C++

• Build and enhance operational cyber tooling and supporting systems

• Contribute to software architecture, technical design, and engineering decisions

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end technical solutions

• Ensure high standards of code quality through testing, code reviews, and best practice

• Work within agile delivery teams focused on secure software development

Required Experience

• Strong commercial software engineering experience with Python and/or C++

• Experience working within secure environments such as defence, government, or cyber security

• Strong understanding of software engineering best practice and system design

• Experience developing on Linux-based platforms

• Ability to work effectively within collaborative engineering teams

• Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance

Desirable Experience

• Experience supporting operational cyber or cyber security projects

• Knowledge of networking concepts and systems programming

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Dev

Ops tooling

• Exposure to cloud technologies, Docker, or Kubernetes
