Backend Developer

About the role:

We are seeking to engage a backend developer for a short term project to design and build backend services, integrations, and data models for a multi portal web application.

• What you will do*

• Design and build backend services using NestJS, Type

Script and PostgreSQL with Prisma

• Implement lifecycle workflows as state machines with full audit trails

• Build and maintain integrations with third party systems and payment processors

• Design APIs (REST and where useful GraphQL) for multiple frontend portals

• Build a configurable rules engine for domain specific validation

• Implement data protection by design including consent, retention, and access controls

• Set up event streams to support real time analytics

• Work with Dev

Ops on deployment, observability, and SLAs

• You should have*

• 5+ years backend development, with at least 2 years on NestJS or equivalent Node.js frameworks

• Strong PostgreSQL and ORM experience (Prisma, TypeORM)

• Track record building integration heavy systems with third party APIs

• Experience with workflow engines, state machines, or BPM tooling

• Solid grasp of authentication, authorisation, and audit logging

• Experience deploying to AWS or GCP in production

• Nice to have*

• Prior work on enterprise, fintech, or regulated platforms

• Familiarity with data protection regimes (NDPA, GDPR)

• Experience with message brokers (SQS, Kafka, RabbitMQ)

• Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CDK, Amplify Gen 2)

• Duration: 3 months

• Location: Based in Nigeria, remote working with occasional onsite as required

• Payment: Monthly, on delivery of agreed milestones

Pay: ₦1,000,000.00 per month
