SRE Lead (Head of Reliability & Governance)

As the SRE Lead, you are the primary custodian of platform resilience and regulatory integrity, ensuring our high-stakes financial systems remain both performant and compliant. You are responsible for the dual mandate of technical reliability and regulatory sovereignty, bridging the gap between complex distributed systems and the stringent requirements of regional regulators such as the SARB and POPIA. You will define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Error Budgets while leading high-stake stakeholder negotiations when reliability thresholds are breached.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Define, track, and report on Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets for all in-scope platforms. Develop and maintain a Platform Improvement Roadmap that prioritizes reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.

• Chair weekly operational touchpoints and monthly service review meetings with our senior client technology management team.

• Lead the observability program, including logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting standards.

• Facilitate chaos engineering and blameless post-mortem sessions.

• Manage platform compliance, including evidence collection and reporting for internal and external audit purposes.

• Oversee the patching and upgrade management program, ensuring critical security patches are applied within agreed SLAs.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in SRE, Dev

Ops, or Tech Operations within Financial Services.

• Demonstrable SRE program delivery and detailed-level understanding of regulatory requirements like CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks and SOC 2

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate

• Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) tooling.

Proven track record of managing "Toil Reduction" programs.

AWS Dev

Ops Engineer or AWS Solutions Architect – Professional.
