OCR Platform & GenAI Engineer

Psybergate is an IT company that builds bespoke software solutions and provides highly skilled resources to its clients.

We are looking for a Specialist Product Engineer (OCR Platform & GenAI Engineer) to join our financial services client based in Sandton on a contract basis.
Duties & Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

• Own the run and operational support of the OCR platform, including Tungsten Automation

• Provide production support including incident management, root cause analysis, and performance optimisation

• Manage platform upgrades, configuration, and integrations

• Define and maintain runbooks, support processes, and operational documentation

• Partner with infrastructure, security, and platform teams to ensure platform stability and availability

• Design and build GenAI-powered services and APIs that integrate into OCR / Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platforms

• Develop LLM-based capabilities for document extraction, validation, classification, summarisation, and decisioning

• Integrate GenAI services into existing OCR workflows and enterprise systems

• Build secure, scalable, production-ready solutions aligned to enterprise standards

• Design, build, and deploy AWS-native services using EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, IAM

• Implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)

• Ensure solutions meet security, resilience, and compliance requirements

• Support and enhance enterprise production systems in a live environment

What we are looking for:

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related technical field

• Additional cloud certifications (AWS Certified Developer / Solutions Architect) will be advantageous

• Strong software engineering background (5+ years)

• Proven experience building and operating systems on AWS (5+ years)

• Experience with API-based architecture and service integration (5+ years)

• Experience with OCR / IDP platforms (3+ years)

• Experience supporting enterprise production systems (3+ years)

• Experience in AWS Engineering / Dev

Ops / Infrastructure as Code (3+ years)

• Experience in RPA / OCR platform development (3+ years)

• Strong understanding of system reliability, monitoring, and support processes

• Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis

• Experience working in cloud-native, distributed system environments

• Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments

• Strong software engineering fundamentals (backend/service development)

• Tungsten Automation or similar OCR platforms

• LLMs and GenAI systems in production environments

• Large-scale enterprise integration environments
