QA/QC ENGINEER (MECHANICAL)
Location: Qatar (Project Site-Based Role)
Overview
A major energy operator is seeking an experienced Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to support quality assurance and control activities across large-scale oil and gas construction projects. The role covers piping, mechanical, and equipment inspection activities across fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
Key Responsibilities
Support contractors in preparing and submitting QA/QC documentation including ITPs, QCPs, procedures, and test packs
Review and approve quality management, engineering, and procurement-related QA/QC documents
Ensure implementation of project QA/QC requirements across site and vendor/subcontractor works
Participate in pre-activity review meetings, quality walkdowns, and weekly QA/QC meetings
Conduct surveillance of fabrication, erection, installation, and testing activities
Identify non-conformances and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented
Raise and manage NCRs, including root cause analysis and close-out tracking
Monitor material traceability, test certificates, and construction quality records
Verify implementation of preservation management systems
Ensure proper management of inspection and test equipment calibration records
Monitor contractor quality systems, KPIs, and performance metrics
Participate in audits, inspections, and vendor/subcontractor pre-qualification assessments
Ensure compliance with Qatar
Energy Quality Management System requirements
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 15 years of experience in oil and gas construction projects (greenfield and brownfield)
Strong experience with piping, pipelines, static and rotating equipment
Experience in fabrication, installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities
Must hold the following certifications:
IRCA Certified QMS Lead Auditor
CSWIP 3.1 or AWS CWI (Welding Inspector)
BGAS Grade 2 or NACE Level 2 (Coating Inspector)
NDT Level II (RT, MT, UT, PT – ASNT/ACCP or equivalent)
Additional advantage: IIW Welding Engineer, NDT Level III, advanced NDT (PAUT, TOFD, AUT)
Strong knowledge of international standards (ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, AWS, NACE, etc.)
Experience managing QA/QC teams and discipline inspectors
Strong communication skills in a multicultural project environment
Experience in implementing quality systems, audits, and surveillance programs
