System Administrator (On-Site – Jamaica Plain, MA)

About the Role

Vital Edge IT is seeking a motivated and capable System Administrator to join our growing team. This role is primarily based on-site at one of our key client locations in Jamaica Plain, MA, with occasional travel as needed.

We’re looking for someone with 2–4 years of hands-on IT infrastructure experience who can step in, take ownership, and contribute immediately. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven IT professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and support IT infrastructure including servers, workstations, and network devices

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, and network hardware

• Perform network mapping, documentation, and inventory management

• Provide desktop support (hardware/software setup, troubleshooting, user support)

• Manage and support environments using:

• RMM (Remote Monitoring & Management) tools

• MDM (Mobile Device Management) platforms

• Microsoft 365 (M365)

• Endpoint management solutions

• Maintain accurate technical documentation, SOPs, and system configurations

• Assist with onboarding/offboarding users and system access control

• Work closely with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure reliable IT operations

• Travel occasionally to client sites as needed

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in IT infrastructure or system administration

• Strong working knowledge of:

• Firewall and network troubleshooting

• Switch installation and configuration

• Windows environments and desktop support

• Experience with M365 administration and endpoint management

• Familiarity with RMM and MDM tools

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and client-facing abilities

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

• Experience with compliance and security frameworks such as:

• HIPAA

• SOC 2

• Other policy or compliance-driven environments

• Exposure to MSP (Managed Service Provider) environments

• Basic scripting or automation experience

• Cloud infrastructure experience with:

• AWS

• Microsoft Azure

• Google Workspace

• Appgate

• Familiarity with tools and platforms such as:

• Vanta

• Ninja

One

• Proofpoint Essentials

• Watch

Guard

Compensation

• Salary Range: $55,000 – $70,000 annually (based on experience)

• Bonus Eligibility: Performance-based bonus structure
