About the Opportunity
Sanderson is collaborating with a leading UK-based organisation seeking a talented Cloud System Administrator to support a platinum-level account. In this role, you’ll work within a small, high-performing team to design, manage, and optimise cloud and virtualisation environments across public, private, and hybrid platforms. This is an opportunity to be part of mission-critical projects, managing a diverse technology stack that includes containers, virtualisation, servers, storage, networks, middleware, and databases, while helping to drive automation and modernisation across secure platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and operate cloud and virtualisation infrastructure, ensuring stability and performance
Deploy, configure, and optimise VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM environments
Support cloud migration projects across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud platforms
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure issues across compute, storage, and networking
Implement automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices using Terraform, Ansible, or Power
Shell
Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and security best practices
Document systems, configurations, policies, and procedures for future reference and audits
Provide technical guidance and support to other teams
Solid experience managing cloud or virtualisation environments
Strong organisational and time management skills
Proficiency with ITIL best practices
A proactive, problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to adapt quickly in an Agile, fast-moving environment
2+ years in a cloud or virtualisation role
Experience with containerisation and Kubernetes
Strong experience with VMware v
Sphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or KVM
Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Knowledge of networking, storage solutions, and Active Directory in cloud environments
Automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Power
Shell, or Python
Understanding of IT security best practices and compliance
Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator)
Security Clearance Requirements
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible for national security clearance. To meet this requirement, applicants must:
Be sole British citizens (dual nationality is not permitted)
Have not spent more than 30 consecutive days outside the UK in the past 10 years
Have no criminal record
Have no significant financial irregularities (e.g., bankruptcy, outstanding debt issues)
