Summary

New Venture Research Corporation (NVRC) is a leading provider of innovative technology solutions supporting critical defense programs.

We are seeking a Systems Administrator to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) in Panama City Beach, FL, with design, development, integration, operations, and sustainment of C5ISR systems. The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining and optimizing virtualized software environments supporting cutting-edge Navy technology. This role is critical in ensuring the reliable operation of systems that directly support expeditionary mission systems for the DoD. The Systems Administrator will leverage their knowledge of virtualization technologies to help manage and improve the performance and availability of these vital systems. This position requires a strong understanding of system administration best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer VMware and Hyper-V products (ESXi, v

Sphere, vSAN) and maintain underlying Nutanix and Cisco UCS hardware components.

  • Perform regular software patching and secure technology through implementing STIGs and vendor best practice guides.

  • Conduct performance analysis for hosts and guests in the areas of CPU, Memory, and I/O utilization.

  • Manage Active Directory and Windows Server integration; assist with data cabling, labeling, and hardware installations.

  • Identify opportunities for automation and implement them using Power

Shell and Ansible.

  • Apply strong troubleshooting skills to resolve system issues and test event trouble tickets.

  • Support disaster recovery, backups, and capacity monitoring for the virtualization infrastructure.

  • Create and maintain technical procedures, operational guides, and other documentation.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical support and answer infrastructure data calls from leadership.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficiency with security configuration and security maintenance of Windows and Linux platforms

  • Experience with Azure, Active Directory and Windows Server administration

  • Knowledge of Linux system administration and Ansible

  • Power

Shell and Python scripting

  • Knowledge of centralized patching solutions

  • Experience with remote hardware diagnostics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in database architecture, design, and administration (e.g., SQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL)

  • Proficiency with modern software development and version control tools (e.g., Git, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins)

  • Proficiency in one or more of C++, Java, Python, and Ada languages

  • Relevant industry certifications such as Security+, CCNA, VCP-DCV, etc.

Required Education and Length of Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related field

Travel Requirements

Travel up to 25% is required.

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our contracts with the U.S. federal government and the requirement for a security clearance for this role, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to maintain an active Secret security clearance.
