Network Engineer (Fortinet) - London, Hybrid - £55,000
80% Project / 20% Service Desk Escalation
We’re hiring a hands-on Network Engineer to lead and deliver network security projects (approx. 80% of the role) and act as the technical escalation point for the service desk (approx. 20%). You’ll design, deploy and operationally support Fortinet-based solutions across on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring secure, resilient connectivity for the business.
Key responsibilities
Lead network & security projects: design, implement, test and handover Forti
Gate firewall and Fortinet platform deployments.
Configure and manage Forti
Gate (physical & virtual) firewall policies, high availability, routing and VPNs.
Deploy and maintain FortiEMS / Forti
Client endpoint security and integrate endpoint telemetry into security operations.
Integrate and operate Fortinet Security Fabric components for centralized visibility and automated response.
Provide L2/L3 escalation support for complex service desk incidents and change requests; produce RCA and remediation.
Collaborate with network, cloud and security teams (including SOC/MSSP where applicable) during implementation and incident response.
Produce design docs, runbooks, diagrams, and knowledge transfers for operations teams.
Automate repetitive tasks and configuration management where possible.
Technical skills (required)
Strong hands-on experience with Forti
Gate firewalls (physical & virtual).
Proven experience deploying and managing FortiEMS / Forti
Client endpoint security.
In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching and DNS.
Solid knowledge of network security concepts (firewalls, IDS/IPS, Zero Trust).
Hands-on experience with VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL).
Experience with Fortinet Security Fabric integration.
Desirable skills
Experience with Forti
Analyzer and Forti
Manager.
Exposure to cloud security (Azure, AWS or GCP) and operating Forti
Gate in cloud environments.
Knowledge of Zero Trust / SASE principles.
Experience working with SOC teams or MSSP environments.
Scripting/automation experience (Power
Shell, Python, REST APIs).
What we’re looking for
Proven track record delivering network/security projects and operational support.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Professional, team-oriented, with a focus on documentation and knowledge sharing.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Fortinet NSE, CCNP, AWS/Azure security certs) are a plus.
