Role: Senior Core Engineer

Location: Cape Town City Centre

Industry: Disruptive MNO - 5G

• Minimum 6 years experience in 5GC, EPC, telco applications and IMS network.*

Job Purpose:

The Senior Core Engineer design, implement and maintain the EPC, 5G Core, IMS and VAS systems and business products to achieve our client's business requirements. Also responsible for the research, planning and scaling of the cloud infrastructure on which the core network applications are running.

Key Performance Areas:

• Plan and design EPC, 5G Core and telco cloud infrastructure

• Deployment of the 4G and 5G core networks elements

• Analyse and convert business requirements into core network solutions

• Network and product design Documentation

• Maintain the core network elements high availability through strategic preventative maintenance

• Perform integration of all systems connecting to the core network

• Undertake network optimisation and performance improvement tasks to achieve predefined key performance indicators (KPI)

• Build the necessary performance dashboard for the core network

• Advanced troubleshooting of customer and network issues

• Research and expose the core network APIs for business consumption

• Research, test and recommend new network features

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement is a BSc or BEng or equivalent in Science, Engineering degree or 6 – 8 years’ experience with industry certification

Experience

• Strong technical background and knowledge of 5GC, EPC, telco applications and IMS network.

• Proficient in cloud native technology

• Basic skills and understanding in scripting

• Clear, effective and proficient communication skills

• Knowledge of Customer service principles and practices
