We are seeking an experienced Payments Support Engineer to manage and support card transaction systems in a high-availability production environment. This role focuses on ensuring system stability, resolving complex issues, and supporting end-to-end payment processes including authorization, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation.
The ideal candidate will bring strong production support experience within banking/payments, combined with deep technical expertise in Oracle PL/SQL and card systems such as CORTEX or IST.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Payments Support Engineer to manage and support card transaction systems in a high-availability production environment. This role focuses on ensuring system stability, resolving complex issues, and supporting end-to-end payment processes including authorization, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation.
The ideal candidate will bring strong production support experience within banking/payments, combined with deep technical expertise in Oracle PL/SQL and card systems such as CORTEX or IST.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support & Operations
Provide L2/L3 production support for card transaction systems, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime
Monitor system performance and conduct regular health checks for CORTEX and related applications
Diagnose and resolve complex production issues within card systems and payment flows
Manage incidents, prioritize issues, and ensure adherence to SLA requirements
Card Systems & Payments Processing
Support card issuance, transaction authorization, clearing, and settlement processes
Troubleshoot issues across CORTEX, IST (ATM switch), and merchant settlement systems
Ensure smooth operation of the end-to-end payment lifecycle
Reconciliation & Data Integrity
Perform and support transaction reconciliation, clearing, and settlement activities
Identify discrepancies and ensure data accuracy across systems
Analyze large transaction datasets to resolve mismatches and improve processes
Collaboration & Vendor Management
Work closely with internal teams (IT, operations, business) and external vendors
Coordinate issue resolution and system improvements across stakeholders
Support integrations with external payment platforms and partners
Key Requirements
7 to 15 years of experience in production support or similar roles within payments or financial services
Strong hands-on experience in Oracle PL/SQL development and production support
Proven experience with ATM Switch systems (IST) or CORTEX transaction authorization platforms
Key Skills & Experience
Payments Domain Expertise
Strong experience in cards & payments systems
Deep understanding of authorization → clearing → settlement → reconciliation lifecycle
Experience with card schemes (Visa, Master
Card, etc.)
CORTEX & Card Systems
Hands-on experience with CORTEX platform (issuance & authorization)
Strong knowledge of transaction flows, integrations, and settlement processes
Experience with ATM switch systems (IST) and merchant settlement solutions
Database & Technical Skills
Advanced expertise in Oracle PL/SQL, including:
Complex query writing and optimization
Stored procedures, functions, and packages
Performance tuning and indexing
Strong ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues at database level
Experience handling large transaction datasets
Production Support & Troubleshooting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with:
Incident management
System monitoring & log analysis
Root cause analysis
Ability to work in high-pressure, mission-critical environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in banking or financial services production environments
Familiarity with payment security standards and compliance requirements
Strong communication skills to interact with technical and business stakeholders
