We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect - Generative AI to lead the design, governance, and adoption of Generative AI solutions within a banking and financial services environment. This role will define enterprise GenAI architecture standards while ensuring compliance with regulatory, security, data privacy, and risk management requirements.

The ideal candidate will combine deep enterprise architecture expertise with a strong understanding of financial services regulations, complex data landscapes, and the practical application of GenAI to drive efficiency, risk reduction, and customer experience improvements.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $200k - $240k/year & benefits (see below). The Role Responsibilities

• Define and own the enterprise GenAI architecture strategy aligned with banking business priorities and regulatory obligations

• Design secure, scalable, and compliant end-to-end GenAI architectures, including data ingestion, LLMs, vector stores, integrations, and controls

• Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Security, and Data teams to embed Responsible AI, model risk management (MRM), and governance into all GenAI solutions

• Identify and prioritize high-value GenAI use cases such as client servicing, operations, risk & compliance, fraud detection support, reporting, and developer productivity

• Establish reference architectures for RAG-based solutions, prompt management, model evaluation, and auditability

• Ensure GenAI solutions comply with financial regulations (eg, SR 11-7, data residency, privacy, record retention, audit requirements)

• Guide teams on cloud-based GenAI platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with appropriate security, encryption, and access controls

• Evaluate and recommend GenAI vendors, platforms, and tooling, including third-party risk assessments

• Support executive and regulator-facing discussions by clearly articulating architecture, controls, and risk mitigations

• Provide architectural oversight, design reviews, and mentorship to engineering and architecture teams Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture, with recent hands-on experience in AI/GenAI initiatives

• Strong understanding of Generative AI technologies: LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, RAG patterns, prompt engineering, and fine-tuning concepts

• Proven experience working within banking or financial services environments

• Solid background in data architecture, data governance, APIs, and enterprise integration patterns

• Experience collaborating with Risk, Compliance, Model Risk, and Information Security teams

• Hands-on experience designing solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), preferably Azure OpenAI in regulated settings

• Ability to translate complex regulatory and risk requirements into practical technical architecture

• Strong communication skills with experience engaging senior leadership and regulators Preferred but not required

• Experience with Model Risk Management (MRM) frameworks and regulatory expectations (eg, SR 11-7)

• Familiarity with Responsible AI principles, explainability, bias mitigation, and auditability

• Experience implementing GenAI in use cases such as KYC/AML, client onboarding, regulatory reporting, fraud investigation support, and contact centers

• Knowledge of LLMOps/MLOps tooling in regulated environments

• Prior experience establishing or supporting an AI/GenAI Center of Excellence (CoE) within a bank.
