Meekono is a design-led wholesale sourcing platform connecting African creative producers with global buyers across retail, hospitality and corporate sectors. We work at the intersection of craft, product development and trade building commercially viable collections rooted in handmade production.
With trade shows approaching and multiple product ranges in development, we are seeking a capable, Junior Designer to support product design & development and trade execution across digital and physical outputs.
This is a professional contract role suited to someone who can multi-task independently, manage deadlines and deliver high quality work with minimal supervision.
Key responsibilities include:
Digitising hand-drawn and craft-based designs into clean, production-ready artwork
Preparing print-ready files for packaging, collateral and exhibition materials
Editing and refining product imagery (Photoshop essential)
Creating structured layouts for lookbooks, line sheets and presentations
Supporting kit development and packaging formats
Assisting with trade show visual preparation and display materials
Contributing to physical mock-ups and studio-based sampling where required
This role requires an early stage designer comfortable learning new skills and moving between detailed digital work and practical, hands-on tasks. Accuracy and speed are equally important.
Required Skills & Capability
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
Photoshop (essential)
Illustrator (highly advantageous), In
Design (advantageous)
Confident preparing artwork for print and production
Strong digitisation and artwork clean-up ability
Solid understanding of layout, hierarchy and visual consistency
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadline
High attention to detail
Preferred Background
Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design or related discipline
Experience preparing work for trade, retail or exhibition contexts
Exposure to product-based or craft-led design environments
