FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital
FOCOS mission is to provide comprehensive, affordable orthopaedic care to those who would not otherwise have access to such treatment. In particular, FOCOS seeks to enhance access to optimal surgical and non-surgical care for patients with disabling musculoskeletal disorders including complex spine deformities and pediatric orthopaedic problems in underserved regions. It began as a dream of the founder to see the best care reach the underserved in his native country, Ghana and the sub-Saharan region.
Summary Responsibilities
Fund Raising Responsibilities
Collaborates with the Board of Directors and Executive Management to create a fund development plan which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization
Develops and manages timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fund raising processes are carried out in a timely manner
Establishes and implements a wide range of advancement policies and procedures for individual donors, contributing members, corporations, and foundations
Responsible for identifying and establishing potential sponsors and settling on the appropriate targets for funding for patients
Manages and maintains the established relationships of FOCOS with corporate/ individual sponsors
Establishes contacts with other organization personnel, approaches individuals, corporate and foundation officials and negotiates the terms of their support to FOCOS
Fosters an understanding of philanthropy within the organization
Develops a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization
Builds relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the organization
Develops policies and procedures for the development unit which reflect ethical fundraising practices
Public Relations
Plans, develops and implements PR strategies
Acts as the focal point (Face of FOCOS) to the public
Manages the PR aspect of developmental projects
Manages all media in relation to answering enquiries from media houses, their representatives and affiliated entities
Organizes events (annual and routine) designed for awareness creation – Scoliosis Awareness Month, Open-House, GALA, press conferences, exhibitions, press tours of the facility
Evaluate opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships and advertising on an on-going basis.
Coordinates the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts
Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media
Represents FOCOS at all Public events designed to promote awareness of the FOCOS brand
Marketing
Leads all marketing activities to ensure public awareness of FOCOS Cause
Researches the market and adopts tailor made approach to branding FOCOS in Corporate Ghana
Liaises with advertising /marketing entities on promotional events that highlight FOCOS’ existence
Be responsible for designing In-House Newsletters, Flyers, publicity brochures, banners, leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes, bill boards for creating awareness
Devises and coordinates photo opportunities of visits of volunteers, philanthropic individuals, sponsors and moments that must be captured for highlights
Maintains and updates constantly information on the organisation's website
Manages and updates information and engages with users on social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, twitter, you tube, and others
Conducts periodic market research of FOCOS and devises strategies to maintain the competitiveness
Qualification Required & Experience
MSc. Marketing and or Public Relations
Membership of Institute of Public Relations or Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana
A minimum of Five (5) years working experience in similar Position
Large portfolio of high profile contacts (individual & corporate)
OR
BSc. Marketing and or Public Relations
Membership of Institute of Public Relations or Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana
A minimum of Ten (10) years working experience in similar Position
Large portfolio of high profile contacts (individual & corporate)
