About The RoleAt Tyro Health, we’re transforming the way Australian healthcare businesses manage payments and claims. We provide innovative EFTPOS and payment solutions that keep things moving seamlessly.
What You'll DoExecute & Learn: Develop and ship features for the Tyro Health web experience under the guidance of senior mentors.
Feature Delivery: Build out new functionality for healthcare patients and insurers, ensuring code is clean, tested, and maintainable.
SDK Support: Assist in maintaining and extending our JavaScript SDKs used by our partner network.
UI/UX Collaboration: Work closely with our Design System to implement consistent, high-quality UI components.
Quality Assurance: Write unit and integration tests to ensure our platforms remain stable and reliable.
Collaborate: Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and design hand-off sessions to understand the "why" behind the "what."Code Quality: Engage in code reviews to both learn from peers and provide fresh perspectives on our codebase.
What You'll BringFoundational Knowledge: A strong understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. You should be comfortable with React and have an interest in TypeScript.
Hands-on Experience: You’ve completed a relevant degree, a rigorous bootcamp, or have 1–2 years of experience. We love seeing GitHub repos, hackathon wins, or internship projects.
Use of agentic tooling: Cursor and Claude are not just buzzwords for you and you know how to use them in your development practice.
Full-Stack Curiosity: Basic exposure to backend technologies (Node.js, Express) and an understanding of how to query databases (SQL or NoSQL).
Tooling Familiarity: Experience using Git for version control and an understanding of how NPM/Yarn works.
Growth Mindset: A hunger to learn. You don’t need to know everything, but you need to know how to ask the right questions and research solutions.
Empathy: An interest in building inclusive interfaces. You understand that accessibility isn't just a "nice to have," it's essential for healthcare.
Problem-Solving: Strong logical thinking skills and the ability to debug code methodically.
Fintech Interest: An interest in the intersection of health and finance, with a high degree of care for data security and accuracy.
Technologies you’ll work with (and learn!)Frontend: React (Hooks, Context), TypeScript, Zod and TanstackBackend: Node.js, Express, RESTful APIs, and some GraphQL.
Testing: Playwright and React Testing Library.
Infrastructure: AWS services and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Buildkite).
