Solution Architect - Microsoft Power BI & Analytics

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Solution Architect specializing in Microsoft Power BI and Enterprise Data Analytics to join one of their investment banking and advisory clients in New York City or Warren, NJ. The individual will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and governing scalable BI and analytics solutions. This role is responsible for semantic modeling, enterprise data architecture alignment, performance engineering, fabric integration, and Azure-based data platform integration. The ideal candidate combines deep Power BI expertise with strong Azure data engineering capabilities and experience in financial services analytics environments. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week onsite in Midtown, NYC or Warren, NJ.

Day to day

-Build Power BI semantic models (Composite, Direct Query, Import, Hybrid)

-Design star schema / dimensional models

-Implement governance, security (RLS/OLS), and tenant strategy

-Integrate data sources (Dataverse, Azure SQL, Databricks, Fabric)

-Develop ETL pipelines, dataflows, and optimize performance (incremental refresh, partitioning)

-Write advanced DAX and enhance semantic layer (calculation groups)

-Conduct performance tuning (DAX Studio, Tabular Editor)

-Design scalable architectures for large datasets (multi-billion rows)

-Ensure security, compliance, and access controls

-Partner with business teams to define KPIs and reporting

Skills and Requirements

-Financial services experience (IB, M&A, capital markets preferred)

-Strong SQL, Python, and Azure

-Advanced DAX expertise

-Experience with Azure data stack (ADF, Synapse, Databricks) and Fabric/Lakehouse

-BI governance and data warehousing knowledge

-Strong communication skills -PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst Certificate

-Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate Certificate

-Fabric Data Engineer Associate Certificate

-Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) Certificate
