Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven Business Development
Manager to spearhead the growth of our supermarket footprint and revenue streams.
In this role, you will be responsible for identifying market expansion opportunities,
securing partnerships with FMCG brands, optimizing vendor relationships, and
implementing local community programs to drive foot traffic. The ideal candidate
possesses deep market knowledge of the grocery sector, a proven track record in retail
sales planning, and exceptional negotiation skills to maximize profit margins.
Key Responsibilities
Market Expansion & Footprint Growth: Identify, evaluate, and secure new
prime locations for supermarket branches through intensive market research
and demographic analysis.
Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain long-term relationships with
FMCG manufacturers, local distributors, and farm-to-table suppliers to secure
exclusive product lines and favorable commercial terms.
B2B & Corporate Sales: Develop and execute B2B growth strategies,
including corporate catering supply contracts, bulk institutional sales, and
white-label partnerships.
Revenue Optimization: Design and implement high-impact promotional
strategies, store-in-store concepts, and localized category management plans to
increase average basket value.
Competitor & Trend Analysis: Monitor grocery industry trends, consumer
purchasing behaviors, and competitor pricing to pivot business development
plans effectively.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Operations, Marketing,
and Procurement teams to ensure new initiatives align with inventory
capabilities and brand standards.
Skills
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail
Management, or a related field. An MBA is a plus.
Experience: 5+ years of proven business development, sales management, or
category management experience specifically within the supermarket,
grocery, or FMCG retail industries.
Retail Acumen: Deep understanding of supermarket operations, commercial
leasing, supply chain logistics, and product margin structures.
Negotiation & Closing: Outstanding track record of negotiating commercial
contracts, vendor agreements, and territory expansion placements.
Analytical Skills: Data-driven mindset with proficiency in analyzing sales
data, POS reports, market demographics, and financial forecasts.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to
pitch proposals to landlords, corporate clients, and internal executive
stakeholders.
