We are seeking an experienced BD Manager to drive Alipay+ acceptance growth across Singapore. This client-facing role focuses on building strategic partnerships with acquiring banks, financial institutions, payment service providers, and key ecosystem stakeholders to expand merchant acceptance. The ideal candidate combines deep knowledge of Singapore's payment landscape with proven experience in acquirer management, bank relationship building, and cross-border payment solutions.
The role requires extensive interaction with local acquirers, banks, government agencies, and merchants, with close collaboration between Singapore teams and China headquarters.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquirer & Bank Partnership
- Identify, onboard, and manage relationships with acquiring banks and payment service providers to expand Alipay+ acceptance
- Lead commercial discussions with banking partners on business terms, incentive structures, and technical integration
- Coach local acquirers to grow business volume and optimize transaction performance
- Manage day-to-day interactions with key banking accounts and strategic partners
- Business Development & Market Expansion
- Develop and execute Singapore market business plans, including market assessments, ecosystem mapping, and TPV/GMV projections
- Drive TPV growth across existing and new payment corridors through acquiring partner collaboration
- Expand acceptance in new merchant segments and execute programs to drive Alipay+ usage
- Evaluate new partnership opportunities with financial institutions and payment switches
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage relationships with acquiring partners, banks, regulators, and industry stakeholders
- Coordinate with national payment schemes and domestic QR initiatives to support interoperability
- Maintain engagement with Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and payment bodies for regulatory alignment
- Work with PR team to execute B2B and B2C programs building Alipay+ brand
- Sales Execution & Pre-Sales Support
- Lead pre-sales activities: RFI, RFQ, RFP, Term Sheets, and MoUs
- Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to banking partners, merchants, and acquirers
- Develop creative sales strategies to drive Alipay+ adoption among target merchants and FIs
- Coordinate end-to-end partner onboarding and market launch activities
- Cross-Functional Coordination & Operations
- Collaborate with Middle Office, Product, Compliance, Risk, Legal, Marketing, and Operations teams
- Monitor regulatory developments, market trends, and competitive landscape
- Manage partner relationships through business reviews and performance monitoring
- Resolve operational issues, manage escalations, and maintain stable transaction performance
- Analytics & Marketing Support
- Generate weekly and monthly business tracking reports and analytics
- Support local marketing activities and events to build brand presence in Singapore
- Coordinate sales and administrative activities to drive customer business through marketing campaigns
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in financial services, payments, banking, or retail/marketing industry with relevant experience in business development, partnership management, payment acceptance, fintech, banking, or card schemes
Technical Knowledge
- Deep familiarity with payments ecosystem, including acquiring business, QR payments, cross-border payments, card schemes, e-wallets, and merchant acquiring (strongly preferred)
- Experience working with financial institutions, acquiring banks, payment service providers, national payment switches, or regulatory stakeholders
- Knowledge of Singapore payment landscape, including local acquirers, banks, and regulatory framework
- Prior experience in Southeast Asian payment markets is a strong advantage

Language & Travel
- Proficient in English (spoken and written); Mandarin Chinese proficiency is required for management of stakeholders from China
- Willingness to travel regularly within Singapore and internationally as required
