Director/Senior Director, Business Development Search & Evaluation (Oncology)San Francisco Bay Area Onsite - Full Relocation Package provided if needed Our client, a commercial-stage biotechnology company with a successful oncology portfolio, is seeking a Director of Business Development Search & Evaluation to identify, assess, and advance strategic partnering opportunities.
This individual will play a key role in sourcing and evaluating external assets, technologies, and collaborations that align with the company's R&D and commercial strategy. The position will serve as the first point of assessment for new opportunities, developing preliminary business cases and partnering closely with internal stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify and cultivate partnering, licensing, and acquisition opportunities across the biotech and pharmaceutical landscape.
Build and maintain relationships with biopharma companies, investors, academic institutions, and key industry stakeholders.
Lead initial scientific, clinical, commercial, and strategic evaluations of external opportunities.
Develop preliminary business cases and support early-stage negotiations with potential partners.
Coordinate cross-functional diligence efforts and facilitate transition of qualified opportunities through the deal-making process.
Maintain deep awareness of industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging innovation, with a focus on oncology.
Qualifications8+ years of experience within biotechnology or pharmaceuticals.
Background in oncology drug discovery, development, commercialization, business development, competitive intelligence, or search & evaluation.
Strong understanding of the oncology landscape and established industry network.
Ability to assess scientific and commercial opportunities and communicate findings to diverse stakeholders.
Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and project management skills.
