Summary of Position
Cadre’s Transit division offers our clients technical rail service solutions including commissioning and testing of new transit vehicles, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspection services. Our Technical Staff work with the leading Ontario transit suppliers and agencies, ensuring their equipment is available to provide reliable on time service to their passengers in some of North America’s largest transit systems.
Our client, the regional maintainer of a newly operation LRT system in the GTA, is seeking a Warehouse Specialist who will provide supporting maintenance operations within a highly regulated transit industry through warehouse operations, inventory control and spare parts management. The Warehouse Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day warehouse and inventory operations supports with LRT Maintenance and Rehabilitation Services ensuring the safe, accurate and compliant handling of materials, spare parts, tools, consumables and equipment on site.
Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, verify, label, store, issue, transfer and dispatch materials, spare parts, tools and consumables
- Ensure all warehouse activities are conducted safely and within client’s SOPs
- Maintain orderly and secure warehouse storage areas, including hazardous materials and critical spare parts storage locations
- Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks and lifting equipment in accordance with training and certification requirements
- Maintain accurate inventory controls within the CMMS / Maintenance Management System
- Perform cycle counts, inventory audits, stock reconciliations and annual physical inventory counts
- Monitor stock levels and identify replenishment requirements to prevent operational shortages
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions
- Support maintenance teams with material staging, kitting and work order material allocation
- Coordinate with maintenance planners and supervisors to ensure material availability for preventative and corrective maintenance activities
- Assist in shutdown planning and major maintenance activities by preparing required materials and spare parts
- Maintain warehouse records and documentations in accordance with company quality and document control processes
- Ensure compliance with hazardous materials handling and WHMIS requirements
- Participate in inspections, audits, investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, damaged inventory or non-conformance issues promptly
Requirements
- Diploma or Certification in Warehouse Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field
- 5 years’ experience in warehouse operations
- 5 years’ experience in inventory management and control
- Previous experience working with computerized inventory, maintenance or other ERP system
- Previous experience working with fork lifts, pallet jacks and lifting equipment
- Previous experience working within a highly regulated industry, within a maintenance environment, or within a transportation environment would be considered strong assets
- Prior experience with/and intermediate computer skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet track-access and medical fitness requirements
Salary
- This role starts as a one year contract and carries a pay rate equivalent to an annual salary of $60,000 - $70,000 annually.
