Job Description

Toronto School of Art (TSA) is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Educational Assistant to support our Youth Summer Workshop and broader summer programming. This is an 8 week contract program funded by Canada Summer Jobs starting on June 29 – August 21, 2026. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in youth art education, a background in the visual arts, and a passion for supporting creative expression. It is also well-suited to an individual interested in contributing to the day-to-day operations of a vibrant, independent art school in downtown Toronto.

Working under the guidance of TSA’s professional artist instructors, the Educational Assistant will support the delivery of high-quality visual arts programming, primarily for youth ages 11–17. You will play an important role in fostering a welcoming and supportive studio environment, while providing one-on-one technical guidance as students explore drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.

Beyond the studio, the educational assistant will also provide versatile support for the school’s administrative operations, assisting with office tasks and general programming needs as they arise.

Key Responsibilities

Support the smooth delivery of youth (and select adult) workshops by assisting faculty instructors with studio and classroom activities, including:

• Contributing to an open, creative, and engaging learning environment where every student feels welcomed and valued
• Greeting students each day and helping them settle into the studio
• Assisting with intake and administrative paperwork for youth participants and their families
• Setting up and taking down studio spaces, including arranging furniture, equipment, and projectors, and distributing and organizing art materials
• Providing technical guidance and encouragement to students, under the direction of the instructor, to help them stay engaged and inspired in their work
• Supporting outdoor activities and field trips by helping ensure students are accounted for, safe, and well supervised
• Monitoring youth during lunch breaks
• Assisting with TSA events, including setup and representing the school at events such as the Toronto Outdoor Art Festival (TOAF)
• Supporting administrative tasks and special projects, as needed
