Software Development Engineer, DynamoDB Storage

In this role you will work on a service that stores petabytes of data and maintains a very high bar for durability, availability, and performance.

DynamoDB is a key-value and document database that delivers single-digit-millisecond performance at any scale. As one of the largest distributed database systems in the world, we continue to believe it is Day 1 for DynamoDB. We are looking for a deeply technical, team-first software development engineer to help us advance the product as our customer base continues to grow. DynamoDB engineers are constantly challenged to think of unique and innovative solutions. As an engineer here, you will exercise your intellectual curiosity, work with motivated teams of sharp individuals, and get insightful guidance from senior and principal engineers.

Key job responsibilities

• Design, build, operate, optimize highly distributed, large-scale services.
• Translate requirements into detailed solution architectures and technical plans.
• Work with others on the engineering team to perform day-to-day development activities, participate in design discussions, code reviews, and ongoing operations of the service.
• Deliver quality engineering work on time and on budget. Execute against project plans and delivery commitments. - Scale distributed systems with optimal balance between performance and cost. - Automate and improve repetitive operational processes. - Support more junior members of the team as they progress with their careers.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
