What will you do?
- Data Product Development: Engineering and visualization of complex transit datasets, including ridership, schedule adherence, On Demand service contracts, and route performance cards
- Lead and Mentor: Supervise, cross-train, and manage the daily work plans and professional development for a team of three analysts
- Project Management: Prioritize analytics products and project assignments, ensuring team outputs directly align with the branch's operational planning needs
- Strategic Branch Collaboration: Lead internal branch working groups with data analysts and subject matter experts to integrate data sources, update analytics roadmaps, and improve data infrastructure
- Informed Decision-Making: Translate and present advanced data insights to management to support Council reports, service plans, and budget developments
Qualifications
- University Degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Applied Statistics, Operations Research/Management Science, or Management Information Systems
- A minimum of seven (7) years of directly related working experience in strategic/operational business planning, advanced analytics, machine learning, statistical analysis, and data visualization
- At least two (2) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience
Assets
- Master's Degree in a relevant field
- Experience working within a public sector environment
Skills required for success
- Technical Proficiency: Mastery of relational databases (Oracle, MS SQL Server), cloud platforms (BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks), reporting systems, SQL, Python, KNIME, R, Tableau, and Google Applications
- Spatial Analytics: Experience with Geographical Information Systems (ESRI ArcGIS, FME, & Geo Media)
- Leadership & Communication: Strong consensus-building, critical thinking, and influencing skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts persuasively to management and internal collaborators
- Project Delivery: Advanced knowledge of project/research methodologies with the ability to manage multiple high-priority deliverables under tight timelines
