General Summary
The Director, Human Resources, leads a team of Regional HR Managers. This senior-level position is responsible for driving the design, development, and implementation of HR Programs through their direct report team. The Director, Human Resources performs a strategic role by guiding their team to provide human resources expertise in team relations, coaching/development, compensation, conflict management, organizational development, training, etc. This role is responsible for supporting specific organizations and/or functions and becomes embedded within the business to work closely with Senior Leaders on all HR-related issues. Initiates and drives HR programs and initiatives within each LOB, placing considerable focus on retention, performance management, and driving Family Dollar’s culture. Responsible for embracing Family Dollar’s store-centric commitment to customers, customer service, and sales.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead team of Regional HR Managers within the assigned zone. Integrate with client business units to understand the organizational value and team dynamics to effectively drive HR strategy.
- Partner with Senior Leaders to create and support an environment focused on driving culture through open communication and professional growth opportunities.
- Partner with and coach business leaders on all aspects of human resources including team member engagement, retention, team relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, development, training, and HR compliance.
- Consult and strategize with HR Centers of Expertise (COEs) regarding compensation, incentives, team relations, benefits, performance management, talent acquisition, and succession planning.
- Drive partnership with Talent Management and guide direct report team to provide coaching, guidance and support to high potential candidates in the creation and monitoring of development plans targeted at skill enhancement in current and future positions.
- Recommend and support implementation of process improvement, initiatives and procedures that contribute to the overall success of the business.
- Provide advice and counsel to leaders and Team Members to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures and practices.
- Assist the VP of Human Resources in the development and execution of department goals and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures across the organization.
- Develop organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues; contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to organization strategic thinking and direction; establishing human resources objectives in line with organizational objectives.
- Evaluate, modify and implement change, where possible, bringing programs and processes in line with other Family Dollar Business models.
- Maintain a current working knowledge of all State, Federal and local laws as they pertain to the HR function in order to ensure organization compliance. Ensures that these laws and regulations are represented and accounted for in HR Policies, procedures, objectives and goals.

Position Requirements
- Office work environment, 40+ work hours per week
- Must have 7-10 years of HR Business Partner or Manager experience
- Must have experience leading large team of direct and indirect reports
- Must have background in the following areas: Experience as HR Business Partner with previous experience working with Senior Leadership, Workforce Planning, Staffing, Budgeting, Experience in Associate Relations and Retention, Learning & Development and Responsibility for large number of Team Members
- Travel required up to 50% of time on a regular basis
Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelors degree in HR or Business required, with a Masters degree preferred
Experience: 7-10 years of HR Business Partner or Manager experience
