In this role the Senior Financial Analyst – FP&A, you will take full ownership of maintaining and updating existing financial reports and board-level slide decks on a monthly basis. You will use established templates to deliver clear, accurate insights to senior stakeholders, ensuring continuity of high-quality reporting during the maternity leave period.
Working with minimal supervision, you will support forecasting and financial modelling activities that underpin key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and management of monthly and quarterly financial and operational reporting, including detailed variance analysis against budget and forecast, to provide Senior Leadership with accurate insights into business performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Manage the monthly forecasting process for the current fiscal year, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission of consolidated forecasts and budgets by partnering with operating and non-operating business units. Maintain ownership of consolidated financial models and continuously enhance forecasting methodologies and reporting processes.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance detailed financial models to support business planning, strategic initiatives, investment evaluations, scenario analysis, and decision-making related to new business opportunities, bids, and growth initiatives.
- Analyze financial and operational results, key performance indicators, variances, and trends to identify business drivers and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in a Senior Financial Analyst or similar FP&A role, ideally within a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and model maintenance.
- Strong PowerPoint skills, with experience creating and updating board or executive-level presentations.
- Demonstrated experience in financial forecasting and maintaining existing financial models.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of deliverables, and manage competing priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines and delivering high-quality output under time pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in a contract or interim finance role, providing cover or continuity of reporting.
- Background in FP&A within medium to large organisations or complex business environments.
- Familiarity with additional reporting or BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) to support analysis.
- Experience supporting or presenting to boards, executive teams, or senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required; CPA designation considered a strong asset.
- 5+ years of progressive FP&A experience with advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities, as well as proficiency in PowerPoint and Word; experience with ThinkCell is an asset.
- Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently compile, consolidate, interpret, and analyze financial results, investigate anomalies, and provide meaningful commentary on key performance drivers and variances.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial concepts and insights to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, combined with the ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with flexibility to work additional hours when required.
