Observer is looking for an experienced freelance reporter to cover economic policy, banking news and major tech stocks. We’re seeking someone who not only understands the financial world but also cares about how it affects people’s lives. You should be as curious about interest rates and earnings reports as you are about how those changes play out in jobs, prices and daily realities.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of covering these subjects and a strong network of sources, including analysts, economists, investors and academics. Familiarity with adjacent sectors—technology, retail, and consumer behavior—is essential.
At Observer, we chronicle power and those who wield it. This beat centers on how major players—from Washington to Wall Street—generate ideas, move markets, and make decisions that affect the world. We want a reporter who can connect the dots, think strategically, and isn’t afraid to chase ambitious stories.
