Mode Search is supporting an International Apparel & Fashion brand in the search for an experienced Head of Retail to lead and develop its store network, drive commercial performance, and deliver an exceptional customer experience across stores in the uk and internationally,This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially focused retail professional with a proven track record of scaling retail operations, building high-performing teams, and delivering sustainable business growth within a customer-centric environment.
Based in London, this role operates within a hybrid working model, with one day per week working from home. Travelling across stores is required in the uk and internationallly.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to shape and execute the retail strategy. The position will also require regular international travel to support retail operations, business growth initiatives, and stakeholder engagement across key markets.
New stores are planned to open and this role will oversee the project management of the openings.
Develop and implement the retail strategy in line with wider business objectives and growth plans.
Lead the overall performance of the retail estate, ensuring sales, profitability, and operational targets are achieved.
Analyse commercial performance, customer trends, and market opportunities to identify areas for growth and improvement.
Drive a culture of accountability, performance, and customer excellence across all retail locations.
Lead, coach, and develop regional, district, and store management teams to maximise engagement and performance.
Establish clear performance metrics and succession plans to support long-term organisational growth.
Ensure consistent execution of operational standards, visual merchandising guidelines, and customer service expectations.
Oversee labour planning, cost management, and operational efficiencies to optimise store performance.
Champion customer experience initiatives that increase satisfaction, loyalty, and retention.
Collaborate with merchandising, buying, marketing, digital, and supply chain teams to maximise commercial opportunities.
Oversee inventory management strategies to ensure stock availability, minimise losses, and improve productivity.
Support new store openings, refurbishments, relocations, and expansion projects where required.
Drive omnichannel initiatives to create a seamless customer journey between physical and digital channels.
Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for the retail function.
Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety, legal, and operational requirements.
